Introduction

In 2025, Malaysia assumes the ASEAN Chairmanship under the theme of “Inclusivity and Sustainability”, reflecting its vision for regional growth and equitable progress. Concurrently, Malaysia will also lead the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC), the apex private sector organization driving economic collaboration and integration within ASEAN.

As the first and only Canadian organization officially associated with ASEAN, the Canada-ASEAN Business Council (CABC) is committed to supporting Malaysia in advancing its strategic priorities and goals throughout its leadership year.

This virtual session aims to provide business leaders, stakeholders, and the broader community with an in-depth understanding of Malaysia’s leadership agenda for ASEAN and ASEAN-BAC in 2025. The webinar will feature representatives from Malaysia’s government and business sectors, who will share insights into their priority programs and key economic deliverables for the year.

Additionally, the session will serve as a platform for dialogue, fostering the exchange of ideas on how the Canadian business community can collaborate with Malaysia and ASEAN partners. Participants will explore opportunities for partnership aligned with Malaysia’s 2025 leadership priorities, particularly in areas such as sustainable development, inclusive growth, and regional economic integration.

This event is hosted by the Canada-ASEAN Business Council, in partnership with the Government of Canada and supported by the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) 2025.

 Objectives

  • To brief the business community and stakeholders on Malaysia’s priorities as ASEAN Chair in 2025, with a focus on key areas of interest for trade and investment.

  • To explore the strategic initiatives that Malaysia intends to champion during its tenure, and how these may affect bilateral and regional trade, innovation, and business relations.

  • To facilitate an open dialogue between ASEAN and Canadian business leaders, enabling the exchange of insights, opportunities, and potential challenges for businesses operating in both markets.

  • To foster collaboration and strengthen economic partnerships between Canada and ASEAN, especially in the context of Malaysia’s leadership in 2025.
